WALLA WALLA - John M. Pearson, 71, of Walla Walla, died Friday, April 15, 2005, at Walla Walla General Hospital.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 20, at the Milton Seventh-day Adventist Church in Milton- Freewater.
Mr. Pearson was born Nov. 3, 1933, in Kanakanak, Alaska, to John L. and Leta M. Moses Pearson.
On Sept. 21, 1953, he married Maxine Bingman at Moscow, Idaho. They made their home at Dillingham, Alaska where he owned many businesses throughout his life. He had a commercial fishing business and owned his own auto mechanics shop. progressing to auto body. He was also a commercial pilot and later owned and operated his own construction and contracting company, a laundromat and auto rentals.
Family was important to Mr. Pearson. He spent many hours with his family doing the things he enjoyed such as flying around and exploring Alaska, fishing, camping and traveling.
He was active in the Dillingham city government, serving on the city council for many years. He also served as a board member on the Nushagak Telephone and Electric Cooperatives from 1969-1993.
In 1993, Mr. Pearson suffered a stroke which forced him to retire and he and his wife moved to Walla Walla. He was a member of the Dillingham Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Maxine Pearson at the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Danny and Connie Pearson of Dillingham, Alaska; daughters and sons-in-law, Letha and Michael Busey and Sherry and Michael Ingham all of Anchorage, Alaska, and seven grandchildren, Issac, Jeffery, Lacey, Bridgette, Jessica, Alyssa and Brianne.
