Sept. 16, 1943-April 4, 2005

BOARDMAN - John Steven Akers, 61, of Boardman, died Monday, April 4, 2005, at his home.

At his request there will be no funeral service. Disposition was by cremation.

Mr. Akers was born Sept, 16, 1943, at Heppner, to Wilbur R. and Anna Marie Kearns Akers. He grew up at Ione and served in the Army during the Vietnam War. After military service he moved to Seattle and worked as a longshoreman and as a mechanic for Sea Land at the Port of Seattle, He moved to Boardman in 1994.

He was a member of the Eagles Lodge and the Stanfield Moose Lodge.

Mr. Akers liked to hunt and fish.

Survivors include his son, Michael Akers of Seattle; daughters, Davina Lindstrom of Seattle, and DeAnna Spencer of McMinnville; brothers, Ivan Akers and Ralph Akers, both of Boardman; an aunt, seven grandchildren; five nieces and three nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilbur and Marie Akers.

Burns Mortuary of Hermiston is in charge of arrangements.
