BOARDMAN - Kenneth Broadbent, 72, of Boardman died Monday, Nov. 11, 2002, at Good Shepherd Medical Center in Hermiston.

Private family services will be held.

Mr. Broadbent was born May 9, 1930, at Redmond, Wash., to Levi James Haslam and Jennie Louise Swenson Broadbent. He grew up and attended schools at Weiser, Idaho.

He served in the Army and was a veteran of the Korean War.

He married Barbara J. Beckley.

A resident of Boardman the past 38 years, Mr. Broadbent first came to the community when he was working in road construction.

He was employed as a heavy equipment operator and retired a life member of Operating Engineers Union Local 701. He was an active member of the Morrow County School Board from 1975 through 1982, and a member of the Morrow County School Board Advisory Committee starting in 1969.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Broadbent of Boardman; daughter, Cally Walker of Salem; sons, Richard Broadbent of Hermiston, and Marty Broadbent of Boardman; grandson, Kiefer Broadbent; stepgrandsons, Kelly Beehler and Caleb Beehler; and sisters, Emily Langley of Boardman, Oletta Fuller of Boise and Myrna Perkins of Weiser, Idaho. He was preceded in death by a son, by his parents, by brothers, Larry and Julian, and by a sister.

Bishop Funeral Chapel of Pendleton is in charge of arrangements.
