HERMISTON - Lila Leach Atwood, 68, of Hermiston died Thursday, March 19, 2009, at her home with her husband by her side. At her request, no services will be held.

Mrs. Atwood was born April 13, 1940, in Hazard, Ky., to Ross and Clair Rice Leach. She spent her career sharing her knowledge with children, teaching at many school districts across the United States, including several years in New Mexico. She had recently lived 3 years in Roseburg, 1 year in Boardman, and the last year in Hermiston. Her last position was with the Umatilla-Morrow County ESD.

Survivors include her husband, Harold Atwood of Hermiston; sister Sue Myers; stepchildren Sheree Mowrey and Randy Atwood; and one nephew.

Memorial contributions may be made to Vange John Memorial Hospice at 1050 W. Elm St., Ste. 220, Hermiston, OR 97838.

Burns Mortuary of Hermiston is in charge of arrangements.
