PENDLETON - Murry "Elgin" Chandler Jr., 64, of Pendleton died Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2008, at his home. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 23 at the Pendleton Seventh-day Adventist Church.

Mr. Chandler was born March 13, 1944, in Ashdown, Ark., to Nellie Mae (Wolcott) Chandler and Murry Elgin Chandler Sr. He was raised in Arkansas, attended Seventh-day Adventist School, and also received an associate's degree. He served his county in the Army, and was honorably discharged in 1976.

He moved to Oregon in 1966, and later was married to Tina Watson in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. He worked mostly as a long-haul truck driver.

He greatly enjoyed spending quality time with his family. He also enjoyed driving up in the mountains.

Mr. Chandler is survived by his wife, Tina Chandler of Pendleton; son Chris Chandler; mother Nellie Hughes of Pendleton; brothers Lloyd Chandler of Pendleton and Larry Hughes of Pilot Rock; sister Kathy Schuldt of Pendleton; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded by his father, Murry Chandler Sr.; step-father Don Hughes; and daughter Lisa Kay Chandler.

Burns Mortuary of Pendleton is in charge of arrangements.
