OBITUARIES: Opal Lorraine Sweisberger


PENDLETON - Opal Lorraine Sweisberger, 88, of Pilot Rock died Thursday, Oct. 2, 2008, at St. Anthony Hospital in Pendleton. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 11 at Berean Baptist Church, 8 N.W. 9th St., Pendleton.

Mrs. Sweisberger was born May 30, 1920, in Hebron, Neb., to Harry and Verna Cissna. She married Charles (Fuzzy) Sweisberger in 1937 in Kansas. She was a Rosey the Riveter during WWII on PT5s.

She was an avid hunter and loved working in her garden. Her interests included wood hobbies, knitting and spending time with her family. She was a member of the Berean Baptist Church.

Mrs. Sweisberger is survived by son Roger of Gresham; daughter Sharon Sacrison of Pilot Rock; brothers Dale Cissna, Harley Cissna and Wayne Cissna; seven grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Fuzzy in 1994; son Chris Sweisberger; brother Morris Cissna; sisters Milred Griffith and Wilma Pothoff; and her parents.

Memorial contributions may be made to Berean Baptist Church.

Arrangements are entrusted to Pendleton Pioneer Chapel, Folsom-Bishop.
