OBITUARY: Darell Wayne Grigsby

IRRIGON - Darell Wayne Grigsby, 57, of Irrigon died Sunday, June 21, 2009, at his home. A memorial service with military honors will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 4 at Lion of Judah Ministry, 505 Willamette Ave., Suite 106, Umatilla (McNary).

Disposition was by cremation. Inurnment of cremains will take place at Willamette National Military Cemetery in Portland at a later date.

Mr. Grigsby was born Aug. 2, 1951, in Stockton, Calif., to George Everett and Netta Marie (Wimberly) Grigsby. He was raised in La Pine and lived in California for a short time before moving to Irrigon in 1980.

He served in the Marines and was discharged in 1971. In 1983 he married Cynthia Ann Swofford in Hermiston. He worked as a drywaller most of his life, which he started doing with his father in the Tri-Cities, Wash., area.

He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Cindy Grigsby of Irrigon; mother Netta Marie Grigsby of Walla Walla; sons Steven Grigsby of Spokane, Wash., and Jeff Grigsby of Corvallis; brothers Paul Grigsby of Walla Walla and George Grigsby of The Dalles; and sister Sam Teder of Florida.

He was preceded in death by his father, George Grigsby, in 1998.

Burns Mortuary of Hermiston is in charge of arrangements.
