OBITUARY: Edward Joseph Birchard

RICHLAND, Wash. - Edward Joseph Birchard, 53, of Pendleton died Friday, Dec. 12, 2008, at Kadlec Medical Center in Richland, Wash., following an illness. Funeral services were held Dec. 16 at Burns Mortuary Chapel in Pendleton. Disposition was by cremation.

Mr. Birchard was born Aug. 12, 1955, in Lynch, Neb., to George and Francis (Ripplinger) Birchard. He was raised in The Dalles, where he graduated from Wahtonka High School in 1973.

In 1999 he married Maria Dawn Wimberly in The Dalles. They moved to Pendleton in 2004. He worked at Fred Meyer in The Dalles from 1999-2004, at Fleetwood in Pendleton in 2004, and was most recently employed by Elite Taxi in Pendleton.

He was a Southern Baptist, and a member of the Rowena Baptist Church. His hobbies included fishing, camping and bowling.

Mr. Birchard is survived by his wife, Maria, at their home in Pendleton; daughters Victoria Mae-Dawn Anderson of The Dalles and Britney Tatom of Pendleton; mother Francis Birchard of Madras; brothers James Birchard of Umatilla, John Birchard of Vancouver, Wash., and Raymond Birchard of Madras; sisters Sheri Grangroth of Portland and Helena Sessions of Las Vegas, Nev.; and one niece.

He was preceded in death by his father, George Birchard.
