LA GRANDE - Former Pendleton resident Estelle Kay Gilmore, 65, of La Grande died Monday, March 23, 2009, in a La Grande care facility. Celebration of life services will be held at 11 a.m. Sunday, March 29 at the Pendleton Seventh-day Adventist Church. A luncheon will follow.
Mrs. Gilmore was born April 30, 1943, in Pittsburgh, Penn., to Louis and Alberta (Foley) Doughty. She was raised and educated in Coraopolis, Penn., a suburb of Pittsburgh. She graduated from high school in Coraopolis in 1961.
After high school she attended secretarial college and began working in the secretarial field in that area. She married Sandy Lee Gilmore in 1968 in Reno, Nev. The couple lived in the Alameda and Pleasanton, Calif., areas where she had worked as a cab company dispatcher, and also in secretarial work. She came to Pendleton in 1981, and worked for many years at K-Mart as a cashier.
Mrs. Gilmore is survived by her daughter, Heather L. Corey of Pendleton; son Erin L. Thom of Hopkins, Minn.; brother William H. Doughty; sister Maxine R. McClellan of Pendleton; and one grandson.
She was preceded in her death by her husband Sandy, one sister and two brothers.
