Jerrod Michael Sherman died in Texas Township, Mich., on Aug. 3, 2009. He was born on Aug. 8, 1988 in Walla Walla, Wash. to Douglas R. and Kerri L. Sherman.
Mr. Sherman lived in Hermiston until he was 19, when he moved to Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, where he lived until his death.
He, also known as "Jerr Bear," dropped out of Hermiston High School a couple of months before graduation but later earned his GED. After deciding he wanted to enlist in the U.S. Marine Corps, he earned his state diploma. He ended up not going into the military but instead moved to Idaho.
He worked at Rick's Car Wash, the Hermiston Cinema and Wal-Mart Distribution Center. In Coeur d'Alene, he worked for Gozzer Ranch. He also worked for a short time with his uncle Jeremy, learning commercial siding. His most recent employment was with Idaho Forest Group, a lumber mill. He also took a part-time side job parking cars at the Coeur d'Alene Resort. He spent his spiritually formative years at Living Water Foursquare Church in Hermiston. He participated in the youth group and played drums as part of the church's worship team for a season.
Mr. Sherman is survived by his wife, Serenity Lilly-Sherman of Coeur d'Alene; his parents, Douglas and Kerri Sherman of Hermiston; brother Ryan and his wife Rita Sherman, Hermiston and Zach Lilly of Umatilla; grandparents, Robert and Phyllis Sherman of Pendleton and Rodney and Violet Dickenson of Santa, Idaho; many aunts, uncles, nieces and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Sherryll Dawn Dickenson.
A celebration for life will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 14 at Armand Larive Middle School in Hermiston.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made in his name to Living Water Foursquare Church, children's program, Hermiston.
