PENDLETON - John "Mike" Kilby, 90, of Pendleton died Tuesday, June 23, 2009, in Pendleton. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 29 at Pendleton Pioneer Chapel, Folsom-Bishop. Burial will follow at 2 p.m. in the Athena Cemetery.

Mr. Kilby was born July 6, 1918, in Baker City to John and Ruth (Crouse) Kilby. He graduated from La Grande High School in 1936. He was married to Eloise Juanita Patton in 1938 on the lawn at the home of Albert and Pearl Anderson.

He was the owner of Pendleton Bus Company, and was a resident of Pendleton since 1944.

Survivors include his wife, Eloise Kilby of Pendleton; sons Mick Kilby of Athena and Marshall Kilby of Summerville; brothers Richard Kilby of San Jose, Calif., and Donald Kilby of Portland; one grandchild; four stepgrandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Pat Kilby; and grandchildren Kent and Kelly Kilby.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Umatilla Historical Society or Pendleton First Presbyterian Church in care of Pendleton Pioneer Chapel, Folsom-Bishop, 131 S.E. Byers Ave., Pendleton, OR 97801.
