OBITUARY: Lawrence Edward 'Larry' Wright

HERMISTON - Lawrence Edward "Larry" Wright, 64, of Hermiston died Monday, Feb. 23, 2009, at his home. A celebration of life service with military honors will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, March 7 at the Hermiston Seventh-day Adventist Church. Disposition was by cremation.

Mr. Wright was born June 12, 1944, in Elmira, N.Y., to Clarence and Norma (Groom) Wright. He was raised in New York until age three, when he moved to Florida. He attended Spokane Community College and earned his associate's degree in respiratory therapy. He married Arlene Newman in Milton-Freewater. He then served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam, stationed in Hawaii.

He returned to Spokane, where he started his family. He became the department head of respiratory therapy at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Pasco, Wash. He then worked in Michigan, Indiana, Florida, and finally Hermiston, where he was in charge of respiratory care at Good Shepherd Medical Center for 12 years.

Mr. Wright is survived by his wife of 43 years, Arlene Wright of Hermiston; sons Tracy Wright of Hermiston and Scott Wright of Hagerstown, Md.; and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Norma Wright; brother Curt Wright; and sister Lovey.

Memorial contributions may be made to an education fund for his grandson, Coltin Wright, at Bank of America.

Burns Mortuary of Hermiston is in charge of arrangements.
