OBITUARY: Myrtle Edith Schultz Linder

HERMISTON - Myrtle Edith Schultz Linder, 98, of Hermiston died Thursday, June 11, 2009, at her home at Rose Arbor in Hermiston.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m Monday, June 15 at the Burns Mortuary Chapel in Hermiston. Burial will follow in the Hermiston Cemetery.

Mrs. Linder was born Nov. 10, 1910, in Sergeant, Neb., to William and Georgia Tackley Newcomb. She was raised in Nebraska, where her family farmed.

In 1948, at the age of 28, she married Herman T. Schultz and moved to Hermiston, where they and their three children farmed watermelons and raised hogs and milk cows. Twenty-five years later she married Troy G. Linder.

Survivors include children Dennis D. Schultz of Irrigon, Terry Lee "Butch" Schultz of Umatilla and Betty Jean "Sue" Helms of Yuma, Ariz.; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Herman T. Schultz; second husband Troy G. Linder; sisters Anna Bundy, Alva Swick, Fannie Swick, Ruth, Mina Jelnick, Lilly MacAtosh, Etta Lindster and Verna Kettleborough, and Rose who died at birth; brothers Arthur Newcomb, Bill Newcomb and a baby boy who died at birth; and granddaughter Patti Ann Schultz.

Burns Mortuary of Hermiston is in charge of arrangements.
