OBITUARY: Phyllis Fryrear

DALLAS - Phyllis Fryrear, 92, of Dallas died Saturday, June 27, 2009, in Dallas. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, July 1 in the Bollman Funeral Home in Dallas. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 3 at Olney Cemetery in Pendleton.

Mrs. Fryrear was born Nov. 18, 1916, in Mankaot, Kan., to G.O. Kirkpatrick and Faye McNulty. She graduated from Grant High School in Portland in 1933. She married Raymond Simonsen in 1935 in Portland; he died in 1937. She then married Brooks G. Fryrear in 1939 in Longview, Wash.

She lived in Umatilla County from 1950-55 and from 1960-1998. She worked as a teller for US Bank for 26 years. She also delivered news sheets for KUMA radio station for five years. She retired in 1982.

Mrs. Fryrear is survived by sons Raymond Simonsen of Harlingen, Texas, and Denny Fryrear of Dallas; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by husbands Raymond Simonsen in 1937 and Brooks Fryrear in 1991; and brother John "Jack" Kirkpatrick.
