PENDLETON - Robert J. Peters, 81, died Wednesday, June 24, 2009, at Willowbrook Terrace in Pendleton. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 27 at Burns Mortuary Chapel in Pendleton. Vault interment will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, June 29 in the Pomeroy Cemetery in Pomeroy, Wash.

Mr. Peters was born Oct. 23, 1927, in Detroit, Mich., to John Felix and Marie Sobedowski Piotrowski. He joined the Navy Seabees, and following basic training he served on the Battleship Texas in the Pacific and Hawaii during WWII. He was honorably discharged in 1946.

His occupations included California State Patrol, Montana Deputy Sheriff, chief security officer in Deer Lodge, Mont., and customer service representative for Pitney Bowes, from which he retired in 1993.

Mr. Peters is survived by his wife Sally Ann; sister Eileen Klein; stepdaughters Shelly Zander and Sheila Ashbeck; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his brother Arthur Piotrowski, and sister Dorothy McMichaels.
