Wilma E. Himes, 89, of Pendleton died Thursday, Nov. 20, 2008, at St. Anthony Hospital in Pendleton. Recitation of Holy Rosary will be Tuesday, Nov. 25, at 6 p.m. in the Burns Mortuary of Pendleton. Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, Nov. 26, at 10 a.m. in St. Mary's Catholic Church in Pendleton. Vault interment will follow in the Olney Cemetery in Pendleton.
Wilma was born to James and Clara (Schober) Rogers on Oct. 22, 1919, in Spokane, Wash. She later came to Pendleton and graduated from Pendleton High School. On April 6, 1940, she married Albert "Abe" Himes in Pendleton. The family made their home here in Pendleton and she worked as a homemaker.
She enjoyed spending time hunting and fishing with her husband. She also enjoyed embroidery and crochet, and in years past had done ironing for the hospital and the Catholic Church. She was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church and had been active in the church alter society as well as the St. Anthony Hospital Auxiliary.
She is survived by two nieces, Darla Denton of Athena and Nina Zerba of Shedd, Oregon, and one nephew, LeRoy T. Himes of Hood River and several great nieces and great nephews.
She was preceded in her death by her husband.
