OBITUARY: Yvonne Kay 'Vonnie' Purswell

HERMISTON - Yvonne Kay "Vonnie" Purswell, 60, of Hermiston died Thursday, Feb. 26, 2009, at her home. Recitation of the rosary will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, March 6 at Burns Mortuary Chapel in Hermiston. A memorial mass will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 7 at Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church in Hermiston. A celebration of life luncheon will follow at Sandstone Middle School, 400 N.E. 10th St., in Hermiston.

Mrs. Purswell was born Nov. 19, 1948, in Denver, Colo., to William and Phyllis Hastings. She was raised in Westminister, Colo., and in 1972 married Jim Purswell at Aravada, Colo. They lived in the Denver area until 1978 when they moved to Hermiston.

The Purswells founded JYP Cattle and Purswell Pump Company in 1983.

Mrs. Purswell is survived by her husband of 36 years, Jim Purswell of Hermiston; children Kim Purswell and Scott Purswell, both of Hermiston, Jennifer Carvo of Richland, Wash., and James Purswell of Reserve, N.M.; sister Victoria Dittman of Denver, Colo.; three grandchildren with one on the way; and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother.
