HERMISTON - Hermiston police officers arrested a man they say was attempting to assault two other men with a knife at about 7 a.m. Sunday.
After receiving a 9-1-1 call, police arrived at 955 W. Hermiston Ave., No. 8, to find Jose Padilla Alvarado, 30, being held down by Ryan Rogers of Hermiston.
Alvarado had a knife in his hand and refused officer commands to drop it. Police were able to disarm Alvarado and take him into custody.
Alvarado complained of injuries and subsequently was transported to Good Shepherd Medical Center where he was treated and released to police custody.
The fight allegedly began when Alvarado was told to leave the apartment the night before. He left, but allegedly returned shortly before 7 a.m. and began to argue with the apartment tenant Jason Broyles.
During the argument, Alvarado allegedly pulled a folding knife out of his pocket and used it to threaten Broyles and Rogers.
Alvarado then allegedly punched Rogers, 37, in the face while still holding the knife. Alvarado and Rogers struggled for possession of the knife during which time, Rogers received a cut to his side and Alvarado was cut on the face.
Alvarado was cited with menacing, second-degree assault, unlawful use of a weapon, fourth-degree assault and first-degree criminal trespass.
