At least there’s a suspect

A woman living near Baxter Road in Hermiston reported her 18-year-old stepbrother may have stolen her Game Cube system and Toshiba laptop. No Umatilla County sheriff’s deputy as available when she called, but dispatchers said one would call her when available.

Theft from business

Hermiston Rock Products, 77515 County Line Road, Hermiston, reported someone cut wires of a crusher, stole spare welding equipment and fuel during the weekend.

Gun now in safe place

Bridge workers found a 9 mm caliber semiautomatic pistol at 12:27 p.m. near Milepost 64B on Highway 395. The workers called police and an Oregon state trooper took the handgun and placed it in an evidence locker.


This is not a parking lot

An employee at the office of Dr. Terry Wigley, 2237 S.W. Court Ave., called Pendleton police at 12:51 to make a parking complaint. She said a man had just parked an old school bus with a “For Sale” sign in front of their office building and left with another man in a car. She requested contact from an officer and the removal of the bus.

A little heart-to-heart

A Pendleton man called the Pendleton Police Department at 2:18 p.m. and requested an officer meet him at his house on Southwest 31st Street to have a talk with his 11-year-old son, who had used his father’s credit cards without permission to purchase video games off the Internet. He did not wish to press charges.

It’s like a bad movie

A man living in the 3000 block of Southwest Overlook Place in Pendleton called police at 10:39 p.m. after three men wearing bandanas over their faces knocked on his door and asked for another man with his name. The men, who were described as wearing “baggy clothes,” left in two vehicles when the caller grabbed his cell phone. The caller reported he was out looking for the men and requested contact from an officer.
