For the last 24 hours, the Air Quality Index (AQI) was 110 (unhealthful for sensitive groups), with a particulate reading of 39.2.

For today and the next few days the Pendleton community will be experiencing a significant weather inversion causing wood burning smoke to be captured in Pendleton’s low-lying areas. This results in high levels of particulate matter which is VERY UNHEALTHY FOR SENSITIVE GROUPS such as the elderly, young children and those with respiratory issues such as asthma. Voluntary minimal use of wood burning stoves during this critical time would be appreciated. The city is currently under a RED DAY designation, which means no open burning is allowed and wood stoves can only be used if that is the sole source of heat for your household. Thank you for your help and cooperation.
