Pendleton police arrested a pair of shoplifters after one threatened to shoot a security employee at Wal-Mart, according to police information.
Ben Rhode, the head of theft prevention at the Pendleton store, 2203 S.W. Court Ave., told police at 4:21 p.m. he had a suspected shoplifter who threatened to shoot him and then ran from the store. Police caught the man in a vehicle on Southgate at the entrance to Interstate 84 near milepost 209. Police arrested George W. Picard, 56, no address provided, for menacing and second-degree robbery and theft. Police also arrested a woman on the strength of probable cause for conspiracy to commit second-degree theft.
Hermiston police arrested Jason Jon Miller, 40, of Umatilla, for domestic violence.
