Thieves attempted to steal electrical boxes from a farm on Highway 332, Milton-Freewater. The farms owner called the Umatilla County Sheriffs Office at 8:58 a.m. to report the thieves had loaded the boxes onto one of the farm trailers and got part way through the orchard before abandoning the trailer. The caller requested deputy contact.
An employee at Travelers Inn, 310 S.E. Dorion Ave., Pendleton, at 12:47 p.m. reported finding a baggie of methamphetamine at the motel. Pendleton police confiscated the drugs.
A burglary was reported at 3:38 p.m. A resident of Southwest Eighth Street told Pendleton police a front window was broken at the home and prescription medication taken.
Brownout conditions due to high winds on Interstate 84 resulted in two rear-end crashes Tuesday when traffic slowed suddenly due to zero visibility and poor weather conditions. The first accident reported at 2:54 p.m. at milepost 199 westbound involved a semi truck that struck the back of a Dodge pickup, which then rear-ended a Nissan sedan. The second crash occurred near Rew Elevator at 3:45 p.m. when a Toyota car rear-ended a Toyota Tacoma pickup. Oregon State Police assisted with the crashes. There were no reports of serious injury in either crash.
The Pilot Rock Police Department at 4:22 p.m. received a report from a woman who said a relative stole a Rolex watch from her at a residence on West Nelson Lane, Hermiston. She requested officer contact.
An employee of Big River Golf Course, 709 Willamette St., Umatilla, reported at 10:12 p.m. that someone was driving a 4-wheeler or something on the golf course. Umatilla police were unable to locate a suspect.
Correction: William Earl Huffman, reported arrested in Wednesdays Public Safety Log, was sentenced for a duii arrest Monday at the Umatilla County Courthouse and remanded to the Umatilla County Jail, Pendleton.
Hermiston police at 8 a.m. arrested Dustin Gene Sanders, 31, transient; Hector Elias Guerra, 30, 405 S.E. Fourth St., Hermiston; and Tyler John Stone, 20, 1905 N.W. Geer Road, Hermiston, for possession of methamphetamine and first-degree criminal trespass at a vacant house in the 300 block of East Cherry Avenue. Guerra also was charged with second-degree theft after a resident of Northwest Third Street told Hermiston police at 4:55 a.m. Guerra had stolen a laptop computer from his home after he was asked to leave the premises.
