Robert H. Kilby


ARLINGTON - Former Monument area resident Robert H. "Bob" Kilby, 73, died Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2008, at his home in Arlington. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 9, at the Christian Church in Dufur. Concluding service and burial will follow at the Dufur Cemetery. Sweeney Mortuary of Condon is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Kilby was born Aug. 24, 1934, at Centralia, Wash. to Elmer and Christine Smith Kilby. He was raised and attended school at Camp Verde, Ariz., where he graduated from high school in 1953. He enlisted in the Army and was stationed at Fort Lewis, Wash.

He married Alice Reidl in 1958 in Olympia, Wash., and they moved to Monument in 1963. He worked as a contractor for many years, retiring in Arlington in 2005.

As an avid horseman, and bred and trained performance cutting horses. He especially enjoyed following his grandchildren in their sporting events, which included basketball and rodeos.

Survivors include sons Michael Kilby of Medford, Kevin Kilby of Lebanon, and Wade Kilby of Dufur; daughter Kristi Kennedy of Arlington; seven grandchildren; five brothers; and one sister.

He was preceded in death by two grandchildren.
