CONDON - The funeral for Robert S. Kackley will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the Condon United Church of Christ. Concluding service and burial will follow at the Condon Cemetery.
Mr. Kackley, 75, of Condon, died Monday, Nov. 11, 2002, as the result of a motor vehicle accident on Highway 97 near Wasco.
He was born April 3, 1927, at Condon, to Robert and Henrietta Parish Kackley. He grew up and attended schools at Condon and also attended school in Ukiah for a couple of years.
He served with the Merchant Marines for four years and with the Navy for eight years during World War II and the Korean War.
On March 19, 1955, he married Shirley A. Carmen, at Condon.
Mr. Kackley worked at Flatt's Truck Service for 32 years and also worked as custodian for Condon Grade School for six years.
He was an active member of the United Church of Christ, a member of the Condon Masonic Lodge and Elks Lodge.
Survivors include sons, Steve Palmer of Moses Lake, Wash., Doug Kackley of Caldwell, Idaho, and Bob Kackley of Scappoose; daughters, Robin Stewart of Scappoose, Mic Howe of Portland, and Rose Davis of The Dalles; 16 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and by sisters, Margaret, Arletha , and Marlene.
