HERMISTON - Stella Lucille Thompson died Monday, July 9, 2007, at her home in Hermiston. She was 74.

A recitation of the rosary will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at Burns Mortuary Chapel in Hermiston. A mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church in Hermiston. Burial will follow at Hermiston Cemetery.

Mrs. Thompson was born Dec. 31, 1932, in Bellfield, N.D., to Matt and Angeline Palanuik Demianew.

She was a resident of Hermiston since 1944. She graduated from Hermiston High School in 1950.

On April 12, 1952, she married Cecil Thompson at Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church in Hermiston. They moved to California in 1957 and lived in Salinas and Gonzales until 1975 when they moved back to Hermiston.

They purchased the Farmer's Market in 1975 and, in 1978, bought Eastside Market which the family still owns today. Mrs. Thompson was a member of Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church and former member of the Catholic Daughters of America. She enjoyed walking, gardening, traveling, and shopping.

She is survived by sons, Jeffrey "Skip" Thompson of Hermiston, Mark Thompson of Davis, Calif., Joe Thompson of Hermiston and Gregg Thompson of Portland; brothers Steve Demianew of Las Vegas, Nev., and Nick Demianew of West Sacramento, Calif.; and nine grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; former husband Cecil Thompson; and siblings Mike, Mary, Katie, and Sam.

Memorial contributions may be made to Vange John Memorial Hospice or to Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church building fund.

Burns Mortuary of Hermiston is in charge of arrangements.
