PENDLETON - Violet Elvira Moen, 88, a longtime Pendleton resident and member of the Eagles Auxiliary No. 28, died Jan. 24, 2007, at St. Anthony Hospital.
A funeral service will be conducted at Burns Mortuary Chapel at 11 a.m. Monday, with committal following at Olney Cemetery, also in Pendleton. Friends are invited to join the family for a celebration of life after the committal at the Eagles Lodge in Pendleton.
Mrs. Moen was born Aug. 6, 1918, in Dover, Idaho, to Helge Gust and Ellen Christina Berglund Tholberg. She moved to Spirit Lake, Idaho, where she graduated from high school.
She married Lloyd Moen on March 31, 1937, in Spokane, Wash. The couple moved to Pendleton in 1941. Mr. Moen worked for the sawmill, while Mrs. Moen worked for Hamley's for 39 years. She had been retired for 14 years. Her husband died in 1985.
She was a member of the Eagles Auxiliary No. 28 for 39 years and was a member of the Peace Lutheran Church. She enjoyed bowling and traveling. She had made her home at Vista Village for 25 years.
Mrs. Moen is survived by her brother, Gordon Gene Tholberg, of Pendleton; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; son LeRoy Moen in 1994; her parents; and seven brothers and sisters.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
