June 2, 1923-April 9, 2005

HERMISTON - A memorial service for Willd Dee Wilson will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, April 13, at the Hermiston Cemetery.

Mr. Wilson, 81, died Saturday, April 9, 2005, at his home in Portland where he lived with his daughter and her husband.

He was born June 2, 1923, in Creek County, Okla., to Hugh and Ollie Duckworth Wilson.

He served in the Army Air Corps, now known as the Air Force, from July 10, 1943 until 1945. He was stationed on Tinian Island working on B-29 Bombers.

On Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 25, 1948, he married LaDon Couch at Garden City, Kan. They moved to Oregon in 1968. Mr. Wilson first worked at Marlette homes then worked for Oregon Potato Processing in Boardman for a short time before being hired by Simplot June 6, 1978. He worked at Simplot until Nov. 29, 1988 retiring as a maintenance supervisor.

Mr. Wilson enjoyed camping and fishing with family and friends. He was an avid gardener and won many ribbons for his vegetables.

Survivors include his daughter, Brenda Cummings of Portland and his granddaughter Tracy Nimrod of Beavercreek and two great-granddaughters. He was preceded in death by his parents, and all of his siblings, Bud, Ervin, Oral, Roosevelt, Nova and Nettie, and by his wife LaDon on June 30, 2003.

Burns Mortuary of Hermiston is in charge of local arrangements.
