MILTON-FREEWATER - The Baker Bulldogs visited Milton-Freewater Friday and put on a softball clinic at the expense of the Mac-Hi Pioneers. The Pioneers lost the opener 14-2 and took a 9-0 loss in the nightcap.
"It wasn't from lack of effort on our part," Mac-Hi coach Barry Weis said. "Give credit to Baker. They're one of the best teams in the state and they played like it."
Baker had 18 hits in the first game, scoring three runs in each of the first and third innings and adding four runs in both the fifth and seventh innings.
"They got a lot of hits today," Weis said. "They're tough all the way through the lineup."
Mac-Hi scored one run in the fifth and seventh innings.
The Bulldogs led 3-0 in the second game until the seventh inning when Baker exploded for six runs.
"We were in striking distance through six innings," Weis said. "We feel good about that. They had six hits in the seventh inning and we made some errors. But it was a really good game through six."
Ranzy York earned both losses for Mac-Hi and Heidi Boyer earned both wins for the Bulldogs.
