RICHLAND - The Blue Mountain Timberwolves shook off a sluggish 1-0 loss to Pierce CC to beat Highline CC 9-1 Saturday in the afternoon game.
Coach Tom Bequette said the pitching was pretty much the same in the two games, the difference came in his team's approach at the plate.
The T-Wolves (7-2-1) more than doubles their hit total against Pierce in their win over Highline and Bequette said even though his team has won five of their last six, it was nice to finally hear the resounding ping from his team's bats again.
"We failed as group mentally in the first game," he said. "Hearing the bats come back alive really helped us out. Things got a little heated there - we played with more urgency."
Caitlin Morgan launched a three-run bomb in the second game while Ana Rockstrom, Candice Castro and Jenna Rosenberg all added doubles.
Allana Johnson recorded a no-hitter in the T-Wolves' win, although two bases on balls and a pair of errors killed the shutout.
BMCC gets back in action Wednesday, hosting Wenatchee Valley CC for a doubleheader that starts at 1 p.m.
