Registration set for golf program

HERMISTON - Columbia River Bank's Junior Golf Program is holding registrations.

The first session of classes will be held at Eagle View Golf Center June 13, 20, and 27, and July 11. Second-session dates are each Wednesday, July 18-Aug. 8. All classes will be taught by golf professional Pete Strawick.

Each class, held from 8:30-10:30 a.m., will be limited to the first 30 boys and girls signing up. And advanced class for students who have completed previous Columbia River Bank junior golf programs will be available.

Sign-up forms can be obtained at Columbia River Bank in Hermiston and Pendleton, Eagle View on Highway 730, or Umatilla Golf Course. They also are available by calling Strawick at 922-5990.

The program will include range balls, loaner clubs, professional instruction and qualification to play in the Umatilla-Morrow Junior Golf Championship, Aug. 13 in Umatilla.

League needs tourney volunteers

MILTON-FREEWATER - Milton-Freewater youth baseball has the honor of hosting the 10- and 11-year-old boys district all-star tournament July 1-7 and the 12-year-old girls softball state tournament July 18-22.

The league is looking for volunteers to help with planning the tournament and during the event. Anyone interested should contact tournament director Lance Bullock at 938-4565 or Tina Kain at 938-7762.

HHS to hold boys hoops camp

HERMISTON - The Hermiston High School basketball program will hold a basketball camp for third- through eighth-grade boys from 1-4 p.m. June 11-13.

Each camp will receive a basketball and a T-shirt. The camp will feature guest speakers.
