PENDLETON The Buckaroo family grew by one on Tuesday when the Pendleton School District voted to approve Troy Jerome as its next assistant principal and athletic director.
Jerome already is a fixture in Eastern Oregon sports and will leave his current positions in Pilot Rock as the high school principal and football coach.
I am very excited about serving the Pendleton School District, the students of PHS and the community at large as the new assistant principal/athletic director, Jerome said in a press release issued by the district. To be part of students and staff academic and social growth through academics, athletics and activities is a passion of mine. I sincerely enjoy helping others discover their strengths and working with people to maximize his or her potential.
Jerome has experience doing just that in several positions he held at Pilot Rock where he started in 1997.
He was the principal since 2010, which followed a stint as assistant principal that started in 2006.
He also taught physical education, health, science, training and conditioning and advised leadership students at Pilot Rock from 1997-2006, and was the drivers education program coordinator from 2000-2008.
Jerome served as the Rockets head football coach since 1999 and also was the head baseball coach from 2001-2006.
Were excited to have Troy on board with us as the new assistant principal and athletic director at Pendleton High School, said Tricia Baker, assistant superintendent of the Pendleton School District. Were looking forward to his instructional leadership, in addition to what hell provide in our athletics and activities program.
At Pendleton, Jerome will assist Principal Tom Lovell with student management, including student discipline and attendance.
He also will assist with professional development activities for staff, manage student activities like dances, games and assemblies, and oversee all aspects of Pendletons athletics and activities programs.
