LA GRANDE - Goalkeeper Alexis Humphrey had 32 saves, but the Pendleton Buckaroos lost a 2-0 decision to the La Grande Tigers on Saturday in nonleague girls soccer action.

The Tigers had 45 shots on goal in the contest against the Bucks (3-2-1).

"La Grande is a really talented team, with ball control and speed," Bucks coach Matt Yoshioka said. "Our girls played a great defensive game."

The Bucks, whose only losses this year were to La Grande, travel to Crook County on Saturday to start conference play.

Ontario sinks Pirates

ONTARIO - The Riverside Pirates girls soccer team lost to Ontario 6-2 on Friday.

After a 2-1 deficit going into the half, Ontario came out and scored two quick goals in the 41st and 42nd minutes of the match.

Riverside player Susan Southworth scored the only two goals for the Pirates.

"The first half we played well and gave ourselves a chance to stay with them, but didn't come out mentally prepared in the second," said Riverside coach Paul Keefer. "This is going to be the hardest week because of the long road trips, back-to-back."

Willamette tops Bulldogs

EUGENE - The Hermiston Bulldogs girls soccer team lost 4-1 to Willamette on Friday.

Hermiston only trailed 2-1 at the half after a Kylie Cody goal at the 15-minute mark.

"I didn't think we played as strong as yesterday, " said Hermiston coach John Larson. "Our defense played well for the most part."

Hermiston will travel to Crook County on Friday.
