HOOD RIVER - The Pendleton Bucks junior varsity football team found itself in an early hole and was unable to catch Hood River Valley as the Eagles took a 34-20 decision in Intermountain Conference play Thursday.
Hood River Valley raced out to a 22-0 halftime lead before the Bucks climbed back into the game when quarterback Trevor Patterson hit Nick Brizendine with a 14-yard touchdown pass.
Patterson later scored on a quarterback keeper and found Shane Dillavou with a 12-yard touchdown toss. A two-point conversion pass from Patterson to Carl Uhlman accounted for Pendleton's final points.
Patterson finished 9-of-15 passing for 101 and also added 60 yards rushing on five carries. Brizendine ended with two receptions for 34 yards and Dillavou also caught two passes.
Pendleton coach Travis Zansaid Terrence Cowapoo, Eric Palmer, Tyler Kilkenny and Andrew Rosenberg played well defensively for the Bucks.
