BEND - The Pendleton Buckaroo wrestling team dismantled Mountain View 59-9 to end the Intermountain Conference dual meet season with a 5-2 mark Friday.
"I like the way they wrestled," Pendleton head coach Fred Phillips said. "I like the way they are sitting for district."
The Bucks will host the IMC district tournament Friday and Saturday to determine who will represent the league in the state tournament. The top three wrestlers in each of the 14 weight classes will advance to state.
Beginning the dual at 130 pounds, the No. 5 Bucks rolled to a 33-0 lead before yielding a match. Eli Anderson opened with a pin at in 2:46 and Cody Campbell followed with a technical fall, 20-5, over A.J. Fletcher at 135. Tim Zimmerman pinned his 140-pound foe in 3:17 and Markus Dunfee won by fall in 4:54 at 145.
Casey Arbogast continued the streak with an 11-2 win at 152 and Tanner Smith won by fall in 3:16 at 160.
Two of Mountain View's best wrestlers got their jobs done as No. 7 Cody Larwin beat Pendleton's lay Wunder 8-2 at 171 and No. 5 Scott Piatt pinned Pendleton freshman Justin Williams in 4:51 at 189.
At 215 pounds, No. 18 Joe Williams scored a reversal to win 4-2 in double-overtime against No. 24 Nathan Rogers of Mountain View. No. 1Sean Orr won by fall at 275 in 1:57 before 103-pounder Nick Brizendine won for Pendleton 9-4. Tyler Kilkenny won at 112 pounds, 8-7, and Seth Cox won by technical fall 18-0 at 119 pounds. Justin Carter won by forfeit at 125 pounds to wrap up the meet.
The Buck junior varsity earned a 48-24 win . Troy Veenendaal won at 103 by forfeit and C.J. Kunkle won 10-6 at 112 pounds. Andrew Rosenberg won by forfeit at 119 and Landry Price win by fall in 3:27 at 125.
Eric Palmer won 5-2 at 140 and Jeremy Marshall won 4-2 at 145. Jeff Winnett won by forfeit at 152 and Dan Wilson used 5:06 to pin his challenger at 160. Brad Lawrence won at 171 by forfeit and Guy Hamm claimed the 189 match with a 5-0 victory.
