BEAVERTON - The Hermiston Bulldogs were the only non-Willamette Valley team in the 20-team Beaverton Invitational boys golf tournament Thursday as Aaron Puzey and Dominick Brink each scored 79 to lead them to a ninth place 326 team score.

Head coach Pat O'Gorman said that it was "an exceptionally run tournament" and a "great day" for the Bulldogs.

He called the par-72 OGA Members Club at Tukwila in Beaverton one of the toughest courses the Bulldogs will play this season and noted that they have shaved 40 shots from their first tournament of the season.

Anthony Farretta had an 83 for Hermiston Thursday, with Cody Vandewall coming around in 85. Gabe Meyer had a score of 86.

Westview won the team title with a score of 299, followed by Sunset at 302. Sherwood's Kyle Zartman had a 69 score to claim medalist honors.

Hermiston will head for Prineville Friday to play Meadow Lakes.
