BEND - Hermiston erased a 10-point deficit in the second half Friday, as the Bulldogs earned their fourth straight Intermountain Conference boys victory with a 57-53 victory over Bend.
Ryan Bell drilled four 3-pointers and finished with 17 points to go with 10 rebounds for the Bulldogs. Paul Carollo added 22 points, nine of which came in the fourth quarter and reeled in 16 rebounds for Hermiston (4-2 IMC, 10-4).
"We've asked the kids to play with more energy, and they did that again (Friday)," Hermiston coach Larry Usher said. "Nathan scored his career high, and we really needed his scoring because they were collapsing on Paul."
Nathan Wicks and Bell each drilled 3-point buckets to help Hermiston end the third quarter on an 8-0 run after trailing 41-31 with four minutes to play in the period. Hermiston trailed from the second quarter through the fourth quarter, but Carollo's putback with 1:30 left in the game gave Hermiston a 55-53 lead.
Austin Bergstrom scored 18 points, and David Hinchman added 13 points and 10 rebounds for Bend (0-4 IMC, 4-8).
Hermiston outrebounded Bend 36-28.
The Bulldogs host Summit on Friday.
