MISSION - Don Bies completed a strong three-day run in the Senior Oregon Open at Wildhorse Resort Golf Course Thursday, holding off Chuck Milne for a one-stroke victory and a first-place share of the $42,500 purse.

Bies, of Seattle Golf Club, opened the event Tuesday by scoring a tournament course record of 63 on the par-72 course. He followed that up with a 68 and finished with a 69 Thursday for a total of 200 and $3,500. Milne, of Vanco Driving Range in Vancouver, Wash., had a 70-64-67-201 for second place and $2,750.

Bies led by four strokes after the first round and held a three-stroke advantage entering Thursday's play, but Milne had pulled even with him heading to the 16th tee. Bies birdied the No. 16 par-3 and maintained the lead over the next two holes.

Fred Haney of The Reserve Vineyards was fourth in the field with a 204. Ed Fisher of Quail Point Golf Club and Kene Bensel of Lake Padden tied for fourth place. Bies also won the 36-hole Super Senior event Wednesday by nine strokes.
