HERMISTON - Sunny, slightly windy spring time weather Saturday contributed in making the fifth annual East Oregonian Butte Challenge a success for the 91 participants and numerous volunteers.

In the 5K men's run, Eric Jensen won first place with a 17 minute, 49.64 second time.

Jacob Vandever won the 0-12 age group with a time of 22:24:14, Michael Ramirez won the 13-19-year-old age group with 22:01:44, C.J. Savage won the 20-29 age group with an 18:14:72, Joe Delgado won the 30-39 age group with a 22:30:63, Tim Leque won the 40-49 age group with 20:30:98 , Jake Osborne won the 50-59 age group with a 21:18:52 and Jerry Fifield won the 60-69 age group with a 23:51:34.

Jill Banister came in first overall in the women's 5K run with a 20:04:36, Rebecca Jepsen came in first in the 0-12 age group with a 22:47:50, Cristal Delgado was first with a 22:08:78 in the 13-19 age group, Alyssa Winslow won the 20-29 age group with a 25:50:08, Amy Ware came in first in the 30-39 age group with a 23:43:04, Kathy Bertsch headed up the 40-49 age group with a 24:43:15, Margaret Osborne was first in the 50-59 age group with a 26:12:82 and Sharon Covey was first in the 60-69 age group with a 56:31:40.

In the 10 K men's run, Clifford Banister came in first overall with a 37:54:12, Terry Johnson was first with a 44:03:79 in the 13-19 age group, J.W. Roberts won the 20-29 age group with a 47:41:12, Chris Wrathall came in first in the 30-39 age group with a 48:42:11, Gregg Walchli headed up the 40-49 age group with a 40:56:50 and Tom Wamsley was first in the 50-59 age group with a 44:27:63.

Alice Loomis took first place overall with a 59:43:79 in the 10K women's run, April Cosand came in first in the 30-39 age group with a 1:06:56:97 and Chris Webb headed up the 40-49 age group with a 1:01:28:60.

In the 5K men's walk, Dean Fialla came in first in the 50-59 age group with a 48:18:91, Bob Colley won the 60-69 age group with a 54:18:27 and Clarence Johnston headed up the 70+ age group with a 56:32:04.

Jordan Garberg came in first in the 0-12 age group with a 47:25:80 in the women's 5K walk, Jenny Loughmiller won the 20-29 age group with a 43:58:08, Stephanie Williams came in first in the 30-39 age group with a 44:50:21, Lynne Hamblin headed up the 40-49 age group with a 48:44:09, Vicki Courtright was first in the 50-59 age group with a 44:49:49 and Joyce Fenton was first in the 60-69 age group with a 52:52:13.

Clarence Johnston, at 84, was the oldest male participant and Joyce Fenton was the oldest female participant at 66.
