PENDLETON - Last week the Class 5A football All-State teams were announced, as voted on by coaches.

While no Pendleton or Hermiston players received first-team recognition, Intermountain Conference foe Mountain View snagged a pair of selections with center Javier Herrera and defensive back Pat Cashman.

Hermiston senior lineman Lale Ena did receive dual second-team honors, though, as the only player from Umatilla County to do so at the 5A level.

Bulldog Faafiaula Ena was the only honorable mention on offense from the area while teammate Luis Ortiz made honorable mention as a defensive back, joined on the squad by Pendleton linebacker Jared Standley as the only Buck to earn state-wide postseason recognition.

Thurston quarterback Tym Pearson was the Offensive Player of the Year while West Albany linebacker Matt McHenry earned the award for defense.

Thurston head coach Justin Starck was named Coach of the Year.
