ASHLAND — The Eastern Oregon football team overcame a 13-point deficit in the fourth quarter to defeat No. 25 Southern Oregon University, 38-37, on Saturday afternoon. Wide Receiver Jace Billingsley’s touchdown pass to Justin Hernandez gave EOU the one point win.

Dominique Blackman threw for a game-high 336 yards and three touchdowns and Chris McGinnis-Parker rushed for 103 yards to lead Eastern Oregon.

Eastern’s defense came up with redzone turnovers on an interception and a fumble in the fourth quarter, and stopped a 4th-and-1 on the Ashland 46 that led to the go-ahead score.

After catching a backwards pass, Billingsley rolled to the left and found Justin Hernandez in the end zone for a 26-yard touchdown and the lead. The Raiders lost a fumble on the Eastern 5-yard line on their next drive.

Men’s Basketball

EASTERN?OREGON 121, MULTNOMAH 89 — At La Grande, the Mountaineers used a hot shooting first half to build a 28 point halftime lead and never looked back as they defeated Multnomah, 121-89. The Mountaineers shot 64 percent from the floor in the first half.

Tony Eackles Jr. led the Mountaineers in scoring with 31 points as he shot 13-of-20 from the floor. Kyllian Wood followed with 15 points and 15 rebounds, for his second double double of the season for Eastern Oregon.

Hermiston’s Trevor Phillips scored 10 points on 5-of-9 shooting and pulled in six rebounds for the Mountaineers.

Volleyball

EASTERN?OREGON?3, NORTHWEST?CHRISTIAN?0 — At La Grande, for the second straight night the No. 24 EOU volleyball swept its opponents on Saturday. The Mounties took out Northwest Christian 25-19, 25-15, 25-14.

Stefani Sorensen led the way for the Mountaineers with a game-high 11 kills. Taylor Stewart followed with 10 kills.

Cross Country

CALDWELL, Idaho — The Eastern Oregon University cross country teams participated in the Cascade Collegiate Conference Championships presented by US Bank Saturday morning. The men’s team finished second in the meet and the women’s team finished 8th.

The Mountaineers finished the meet with team score of 54 points, only behind Southern Oregon who won the meet with 31 points. Leading Eastern Oregon was Isaac Updike who was solid over the final third of the race, finishing second with a time of 25:47.25.

Following Isaac Updike was Kody Shriver, who finished fourth overall for EOU, with a time of 25:52.38.

On the women’s side, Sasha Gonzalez led the Mountaineers, finishing 23rd overall in a time of 20:04, followed by Hermistonite Cristal Delgado, who finished 29th in a time of 20:23.
