MISSION — Thirty-nine total golfers weathered the late-spring showers to compete at the opening tournament of the Northeast Oregon Junior Golf Association (NEOJGA) on Tuesday at Wildhorse Golf Course.

Pendleton’s Nathan Som and Brayden Pulver tied for the win in the Boys (14-15 years old) division, and their two-over par 74’s also were the lowest rounds of the day.

Also from Pendleton, Haley Greb shot a 76 to win the Intermediate Girls (13-15) title, and older sister Shelby shot a 78 that won her the Junior Girls (16-18) crown.

Hermiston’s J.D. Thacker won the Boys Juniors (16-18) title with an 80, and Jared Gier was the top Intermediate Boys (12-13) player with a score of 90.

Pee Wee divisions also were contested for boys and girls and played nine holes. Hunter Greenup (67) and Sasha Keown (72), both of Heppner, won those titles.

The next tournament on the 7-stop circuit is Thursday, June 26, at Pendleton Country Club.
