ATHENA - Despite Weston-McEwen's five-run comeback in the third inning to even the game at 5, Heppner held off the TigerScots 10-6 Thursday in a Columbia Basin Conference matchup.

Pitcher Nick Christman picked up the win for Heppner after throwing five innings and allowing five runs. Teammate Jode Coil pitched two full innings in relief.

At the plate, Dan Basile doubled for the Mustangs.

Heppner (7-2, 1-0 CBC) will host Umatilla on Saturday. The TigerScots (3-7, 0-1 CBC) face Pilot Rock on Tuesday.

Umatilla 11-4, Hermiston JV 10-14

HERMISTON - Pitcher Tim Wilson pitched 51/3 innings to pick up the win for Umatilla in the first game, surrendering six runs - three earned - on eight hits.

The Vikings (1-6) held off a four-run Bulldog rally in the final inning to take the victory.

Hermiston's Corey Kelly went 2 for 3 with three RBI in the second game, which ended in the fifth inning due to the 10-run rule.

Umatilla is at Heppner on Saturday.
