UMATILLA - Despite watching Umatilla score eight runs in the first inning Monday, the Hermiston junior varsity baseball team came back to post a 13-8 nonconference victory.

Umatilla (0-4) allowed nine hits in the game and had 11 errors.

"Our guys are starting to figure out what it takes to win ball games, but we had too many costly errors at costly times," Umatilla coach Joe Vandecar said. "We also left too many guys on base, but I'm excited that they are looking better and better every day."

Umatilla's Corey Wilson and Kenny Young both went 2 for 3 at the plate.

Umatilla travels to Sherman County on Saturday.
