HERMISTON?- The Hermiston Bulldogs softball team came back from a 6-run first inning deficit to defeat the Bend Lava Bears 24-6 in Intermountain Conference play Friday.

Bend (0-11, 0-7 IMC) got to Hermiston starting pitcher Megann Galloway, putting up six runs in their first at bat. Paige Long came in to relieve Galloway in the second inning and blanked the Lava Bears the rest of the way.

The bats were hot for the Bulldogs (4-9, 2-5 IMC), as they put together 20 hits in four innings at the plate. Hanna Findley led the charge with a 4 for 5 performance with 4 RBI. Cheyanne Lawson was 3 for 4 with 5 RBI.

"Bend jumped on us early but we were able to close them out,"?Hermiston coach Ryan Keefauver said. "Then we started hitting the ball."

Hermiston will host Bend again today in a doubleheader.
