Nixyaawii AD awarded the Leadership Award from OADA

SUNRIVER — On Monday, Aaron Noisey was given the 2018 1A/2A/3A Oregon Athletic Director Association Leadership Award.

Noisey received the accolade during the 2018 OADA State Conference at Sunriver Resort in Sunriver. The event began Friday and lasted throughout the weekend. The award luncheon also honored retiring members, years of service and awards of merit, and concluded with scholarship recipient presentations.

In 2012, Noisey returned to his position as athletic director at Nixyaawii Community School. He had previously held the position but two months before his reinstatement, he resigned. Noisey was also the former boys basketball coach. He also teaches health and physical education at the school.

Registration for the 2018 Meadowood Golf Tournament now open

HERMISTON — Golfers are now able to register for the popular Meadowood Golf Tournament at Big River Golf Course. The 140-player field is open to both men and women over 21 years old, and is expected to fill up fast. The event is sponsored by Hermiston Elks BPOE #1845.

The 2018 Men’s Opening Day at PCC brings a net-low 68 and a hole in one

PENDLETON — On Sunday, the Pendleton Country Club held its annual Opening Day featuring top performances form local male golfers.

Leading the way was JJ Spriet, who carded four-under par (68). Joe Reyes, also of Pendleton, recorded a low-gross of even-par (72).

The highlight of the day came from Matt Corley, a Pendleton High alum who regained his amateur status in 2015. Corely made the ace on the par-3 109-yard sixth hole. It was the third hole in one of Corely’s golf career.
