LA GRANDE — The Eastern Oregon University football team welcomes the University of Montana Western to Community Stadium Saturday.

The Bulldogs and Mountaineers meet for the 16th time this weekend. EOU has played Western more than any other Frontier Conference opponent.

Eastern holds an 11-4 advantage over UMW, and has won four straight over the Bulldogs.

The last time Western beat EOU was on Sept. 20, 2008, in Dillon, Mont. The Mountaineers last lost in La Grande to the Bulldogs in the 2002 season opener, 24-21.

Montana Western (0-9, 0-8) comes into the game after a 42-3 loss at Carroll last week. The Bulldogs were held to 140 total yards including minus three yards rushing.

The most recent meeting in La Grande was on Eastern’s homecoming last season. The Mountaineers held off a phenomenal second-half rally from the Bulldogs and won 40-30 behind 10 broken school records in the game.
