JOHN DAY - The 9-10-year-old Pendleton Softball All-Stars remain undefeated in tournament play in John Day after beating Grant County 9-2 Monday.

Hailey Kline and Allie Livesay combined to hold Grant County to one hit, with Kline picking up the win.

Kline started and threw three innings of no-hit softball, striking out seven, before Livesay came on in the fourth to throw the last three innings, striking out five.

Pendleton trailed 2-0 going into the bottom of the third but exploded for all nine of their runs in their next two at bats.

"It took us a while to get going, I'm not sure why," coach Steve Richards said.

Ellie Richards was 2-for-4 on the day with two runs while Darian Lindsey and Caitlin Zyph each added two runs.

Only Milton-Freewater (3-0) and Pendleton (2-0) remain undefeated in the tournament. Pilot Rock is 0-2, Triangle is 1-1 and Pendleton's opponent today, La Grande, is 1-1.

Pendleton will need to win one more game to advance from pool play.

They will play Milton-Freewater Wednesday.
