THE DALLES - The Pendleton 13-year-old Babe Ruth squad extended their dominance from the district tournament to the state level Thursday, though they beat a familiar team.
After Wednesday's action was rained out, Pendleton opened Thursday with a 13-0 victory over district rivals Tri-County.
Tanner Livesay and Tyler Zyph pitched a combined three-hit shutout for Pendleton while the defense behind them played error-less ball.
Zyph also added a 4 for 4 outing at the plate while Livesay got the scoring started with a two-RBI double in the first inning.
More rain is in the forecast for this week, and tournament directors are considering several options for getting all the games played in time for the championship game Sunday.
"We want to keep it (our winning streak) going and hopefully it won't rain," Pendleton coach Bill Zyph said. "We just want to actually get to play."
One option presented by the tournament director is to put all first-seed teams into tournament play and eliminate second-seed teams. This would allow Pendleton to move on but cut Tri-County out of the tournament.
