BERLIN - Former University of Oregon star Galen Rupp finished eighth in the men's 10,000 meters at the World Track & Field Championships in Berlin.

Rupp finished Monday's race in 27 minutes, 37.99 seconds. It was his season-best, but still 51 seconds behind the winner, Kenenisa Bekele. The Ethiopian has won four consecutive world championships.

Rupp captured the 10,000 meters at the U.S. championships in June.

He beat Eugene runner Dathan Ritzenhein in that race, but Ritzenhein finished two spots ahead of Rupp on Monday.
