Shoni Schimmel, a member of the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation, led the University of Louisville into the second round of the NCAA basketball tournament as the Cardinals beat Vanderbilt 81-62. Schimmel, a freshman point guard, hit 8 of 13 from the floor and scored 19 points. She also had three assists, two rebounds and a steal.

The seventh-seeded Cardinals (21-12) will face second-seeded Xavier (29-2) Tuesday night at 7:10 ET. If Louisville wins that game, it moves into the regionals in Spokane against the winner of the Gonzaga-UCLA matchup for a Saturday contest.
